Ingredients
1 c lard
1/2 c butter
2 c sugar
1 egg
1 c milk
5 - 6 c flour
1 t baking soda
2 t cream of tartar
dash of salt
natural anise oil - 1 dram (half of small bottle)
Preparation
Cream lard, butter and sugar. Add anise. Beat in egg. Combine flour, soda, tartar and salt. Alternately add flour mix, then milk, then flour ending with flour. Refrigerate dough at least 8 hours. Flour well and roll out. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes
