Ingredients
2 loaves French Bread - cut into chunks - day old
6 cups whole Milk
3/4 pounds butter
5 eggs
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup vanilla extract (real stuff)
3/4 cup golden raisins
Cinnamon
Hard sauce
2 C cream
1/4 butter
1/4 cup confection sugar
1 egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup bourbon
Preparation
Heat milk with butter until butter is melted Combine with a whisk eggs, sugar vanilla Add the hot milk/butter mixture Pour over bread and add raisins Let soak for 10 minutes Transfer to a buttered glass baking dish Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon
Bake in a water bath at 350F for 40-45 minutes Should be just firm but not dry.
Hard Sauce Heat cream with butter Add confection sugar In a separate bowl whisk egg yolk Drissle in hot milk - pour back into sauce pan add bourbon and low heat
