Ingredients

1 gallon washed and sliced 1/2 to 1/4 inch pickling cukes

8 onions sliced crosswise in rings

1/2 cup kosher salt

Ice cubes

5 cups sugar

1/2 tsp tumeric

1 tsp celery seed

1/2 tsp ground cloves

2 tsp mustard seed

5 cups cider vinegar

Preparation

  1. Prepare cukes and onions
  2. place in large tub
  3. Sprinkle with salt and mix up
  4. Cover with ice and let sit for 3 hours
  5. Drain cuke mix
  6. Boil ingredients 5 - 10 for 5 - 10 minutes
  7. Add cukes and mix. heat through (DO NOT BOIL)
  8. Pack in canning jars 10 1/2 inch from top
  9. Put tops on and process for 5 minutes in boiling water in canning kettle.
