Ingredients
1 gallon washed and sliced 1/2 to 1/4 inch pickling cukes
8 onions sliced crosswise in rings
1/2 cup kosher salt
Ice cubes
5 cups sugar
1/2 tsp tumeric
1 tsp celery seed
1/2 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp mustard seed
5 cups cider vinegar
Preparation
- Prepare cukes and onions
- place in large tub
- Sprinkle with salt and mix up
- Cover with ice and let sit for 3 hours
- Drain cuke mix
- Boil ingredients 5 - 10 for 5 - 10 minutes
- Add cukes and mix. heat through (DO NOT BOIL)
- Pack in canning jars 10 1/2 inch from top
- Put tops on and process for 5 minutes in boiling water in canning kettle.
