Ingredients

1 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup milk

2 Tablespoons cooking oil

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

2/3 cup sugar

1 1/2 cups boiling water

Preparation

  1. Stir together flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tblspns of cocoa powder, and baking powder. Add milk, oil, and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Stir in nuts. Transfer to 2-quart casserole.

  2. Combine remaining sugar and remaining cocoa powder. Gradually stir in boiling water. Pour evenly over batter.

  3. Bake in 350 degree oven about 30 minutes or till a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.

  4. Serve ware. Serves 8.

  5. MOCHA VERSION: Add 4 tablespoons instant coffee crystals to boiling water.
