Ingredients
1/4 Cup Warm Water
1 pkg active dry yeast
3/4 cup lukewarm Milk (heat in microwave for 1-1/2 minutes then cool in a bowl of ice until luke warm)
1/4 C sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 cup Shortening
3-1/2 to 3-3/4 C flour
Preparation
Dissolve yeast in water. Add milk, sugar, salt, egg, shortening and half the flour. Attach bowl and powerKnead spiral dough hook to mixer and turn to speed 2 and mix for about 1 minute. Continue on speed 2 add remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time and mix about 1-1/2 minutes or until dough start to clear the sides of the bowl. Knead on Speed 2 for about 2 minute longer or until dough is smooth and elastic. Dough will be slightly sticky to the touch. Place dough in greased bowl until double, about 1-1/2 hour. Punch down and let rise a second time for 1/2 hour.
Roll out dough into oblong 15x9 spread with melted butter, then sprinkle with brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon and nuts. Roll tightly beginning at the wide side. Cut roll into 1 inch slices. Place in a greased 13x9 pan, cover and let rise until double.
Bake at 375 degree oven for 25 minutes. Frost while warm
I sometimes place the bowl over warm water to speed up the process.
