Ingredients
2 1/2-3 lbs round steak, cut in thin slices
1/2 cup onion, minced
3 T butter
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb sliced white or button mushrooms
2 cans undiluted cream of chicken soup
2 cups sour cream*
Salt and Pepper
Egg noodles
Preparation
Saute onion in butter; add beef and garlic and saute until beef is browned. Add mushrooms and saute just until beginning to soften. Add cream of chicken soup, sour cream and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer GENTLY for 10 minutes. Do not boil - sour cream will curdle! While Stroganoff is simmering, cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and add a small amount of butter to keep noodles from sticking. Serve Stroganoff on top of egg noodles.
