Ingredients
1 16 oz can applesauce
1 cup dark molasses
2 tsp baking soda
3 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp powdered ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
4 eggs
1 1/3 cups suga
2/3 cup vegetable oil
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325 Bring applesauce to a boil. Stir in molasses and soda. Set aside to cool. Sift flour with salt and spices, set aside. In large bowl of an mixer, beat eggs until light in color. Gradually beat in sugar and continue beating until thick, then gradually beat in oil. Alternately fold in flour mixture and applesauce mixture. Pour into a greased 10 inch tube pan and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then remove to a rack to continue cooling.
