Ingredients

4 cups flour

5 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

9 ounces warm water

1 package yeast

1 package vegetable oil

Preparation

  1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the water, then add the flour and salt.
  2. Coat the dough ball with a thin layer of oil.
  3. Cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm, dry place for 1 hour.
  4. Punch down and let rise again for 1 hour.
  5. Knead on a floured surface by pressing the heel of your hand int he center of the dough, then folding it in half, and repeating.
  6. Divide in half, and roll one portion with a rolling pin.
  7. Tightly roll up the flattened dough, and knead the rolling portion gently as you roll it up to get air bubbles out.
  8. Let rise for 1 hour.
  9. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and hollow sounding.
  10. Allow to cool before serving.
