Ingredients

Meatballs

• 1 pound ground beef

• 1 T. brown sugar

• ¼ C. raisins, finely chopped

• ¼ C. piñon nuts

• ¼ C. onion, finely minced

• 1 t. allspice

• 3/4 t. salt

• ½ C. green chile, finely chopped

• flour for dredging

• oil for frying

Sweet green chile sauce

• 1/2 C. green chile, finely chopped

• 1 T. brown sugar

• ¼ t. salt

Preparation

Instructions

  1. Combine meat, sugar, raisins, piñon, onion, chile, allspice and salt in medium bowl.
  2. Mix thoroughly with your hands, and form into 1-inch balls (about 1 T. each).
  3. Roll each meatball in flour.
  4. Heat enough oil (I used canola) to cover the bottom of a large skillet, on medium-high flame. Fry meatballs in batches, 1-2 minutes on each side, until browned. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Mix green chile, sugar and salt to make a sauce to serve with meatballs.
