Ingredients
Meatballs
1 pound ground beef
1 T. brown sugar
¼ C. raisins, finely chopped
¼ C. piñon nuts
¼ C. onion, finely minced
1 t. allspice
3/4 t. salt
½ C. green chile, finely chopped
flour for dredging
oil for frying
Sweet green chile sauce
1/2 C. green chile, finely chopped
1 T. brown sugar
¼ t. salt
Preparation
Instructions
- Combine meat, sugar, raisins, piñon, onion, chile, allspice and salt in medium bowl.
- Mix thoroughly with your hands, and form into 1-inch balls (about 1 T. each).
- Roll each meatball in flour.
- Heat enough oil (I used canola) to cover the bottom of a large skillet, on medium-high flame. Fry meatballs in batches, 1-2 minutes on each side, until browned. Drain on paper towels.
- Mix green chile, sugar and salt to make a sauce to serve with meatballs.
