Ingredients
4-1/2 C All purpose Flour
2 tbsp. Sugar
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Soda
½ tsp Baking Soda
¾ C Raisins
2 tsp Caraway seeds
2 C Buttermilk
1 Large Egg, slightly beaten
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees
- Mix first five ingredients in a large bowl
- Stir in raisins and caraway seeds
- Add Buttermilk using wooden spoon - Dough will be sticky
- Flour hands and rolling surface, knead dough ten times
- Cut small piece to form stem
- Divide dough in three and form balls
- Grease Cookie Sheet
- On Cookie Sheet, Shape into Shamrock and place stem at top
- Brush top with beaten egg
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Note: recipe can be cut in half for smaller loaf.
