Ingredients

Cake:

1c butter

1 1/2c sugar

3 eggs

3c flour

2tsp vanilla

Topping:

sliced or halved* plums

3/4c sugar

3tbsp flour

1/2 tsp cinnamon

Preparation

Mix together cake ingredients and chill in fridge until firm; press into 9"x9" pan or larger (ungreased).

Top with plums, fresh side up.

Mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon and sprinkle over top.

Bake for 30-40 min at 350.

*my mother has always done halves, and I especially like it because they make little pockets of syrup that are contained while cooking but will moisten each piece while eating; peaches are also good for this recipe, and I’ve even done a stawberry-rhubarb
