Ingredients
2 c. flour
4 t. baking powder
2 t. sugar
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. cream of tartar
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk
Preparation
- Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar
- Cut in shortening (with a pastry cutter or two knives)
- Add milk all at once. Stir until ingredients come together
- Knead 5 times til smooth.
- Pat into a 1/2 in. thick circle. Cut out desired size biscuits with cookie/biscuit cutter.
- Bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet, until lightly browned.
- For variations add: 1/2 c. cheddar cheese and/or 1 t. powdered garlic
