Ingredients
2 1/2 cups (KingArthurFlour) all purpose flour
3/4 tsp salt
2 tablespoons dry buttermilk powder
1 " Splenda (or sugar)
1/2 cup (1 stick)
1/2 cups vegetable shortening (Crisco
8+ tablespoons Ice water
Preparation
In medium bowl whisk together flour, salt, buttermilk powder, Splenda. Add butter and shortening (in glob ok); blend by hand until dough is crumbly. Leave butter chunks and shortening about pea size. Sprinkle water onto dough and toss together until dough holds together when squeezed. Turn dough onto floured surface and gently fold over several times until dough is cohesive. Divide dough in half and flatten into Two flat 4" disks. Wrap well in plastic wrap (Saran) and refrigerate at least 30 minutes, or until ready to use, or freeze for future use.
