Ingredients

12 thick slices of apple wood smoked bacon (I used Trader Joe’s)

2 tbsp. pure maple syrup

1/2 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a bowl, add maple syrup; set aside.
  3. Add bacon in single layer on a rimmed baking sheet and bake in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes until barely crisp. Drain off any fat in pan.
  4. With a pastry brush, brush maple syrup over one side of bacon and sprinkle with half of the black pepper; place back in the oven for 2 minutes. Take baking sheet out of the oven and flip the bacon. Brush other side with remaining maple syrup and pepper. Place back in the oven for 2 minutes or until glazed and shiny.
  5. Let cool for 2 minutes so bacon firms up; serve warm.
