Ingredients
4 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 cup chopped onion
4 cups good quality (Cento) Italian crushed tomatoes, undrained
6 Tbsp tomato paste
2 tsp dried Basil
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
In an enameled or stainless steel saucepan, heat the olive oil. Add the onions and cook until soft but not browned. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, sugar, salt and a few grindings of pepper. Simmer over low heat, partially covered, for about 40 minutes. Set aside.
