Ingredients:
20-24 slices of white bread
6 eggs
4 cups of Half & Half
2 teaspoons of Vanilla
1 cup of sugar
Dash of nutmeg
Filling: (Separate from and addition to above ingredients)
16 oz. of cream cheese
1 teaspoon of Vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup of sugar
Optional: Applesauce, sliced fresh fruit or berries
Preparation
Directions:
- Trim crust from bread.
- Spray a 3 qt. baking dish with non-stick Pam coating.
- Arrange half of bread in pan so that the entire bottom of pan is covered.
- In a separate bowl, mix the 6 eggs, HALF & Half, vanilla and sugar.
- Pour half of this liquid over the bread in the bottom of the pan.
- In a separate bowl, combine the filling ingredients together(except the optional fruit) and mix until creamy.
- Pour this filling over the moistened bread, then layer with optional fruit if desired.
- Arrange the other half of the bread over the top of the filling.
- Pour the rest of the original egg mixture over the top of the new layer of bread.
- Sprinkle top with a dash of nutmeg.
- Cover and let stand in the fridge overnight
- Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes
- Serves 12 people.
