Ingredients

Vegetable cooking spray

1/2 pound freshly ground turkey

1/4 cup chopped celery

1/4 cup chopped onion

1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce

3/4 cup water

2 Tablespoons tomato paste

2 teaspoons chile powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon cumin

6 whole wheat hamburger buns

1/2 cup shredded low-fat Cheddar cheese

1/2 cup shredded lettuce

Preparation

  1. Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray; place over medium heat until hot. Add turkey, celery, and onion; cook until turkey is browned, stirring to crumble.

  2. Stir n tomato sauce and next 7 ingredients. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Divide turkey mixture evenly between bottom halves of buns; top with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tops of buns
